Internal screens and stained glass partitions
An internal glazed screen need not be plain glass. Replacing the glazing with stained glass panels lets the partition carry light, divide the space and become the strongest element in the room.
The internal screen, reconsidered
The black steel and clear glass workshop screen has become a standard. Substituting stained glass panels changes what the object is: the partition stops being a transparent divider and becomes a filter for light and a work in its own right.
Privacy is tuned through the design — textured or opalescent glass where the eye should not pass, clear glass elsewhere. A kitchen stays open to the living room without the worktop being on show.
Steel and timber frames
Panels fit into a steel frame made by a metalworker, or into timber joinery. I work from the sections your craftsman has specified, or coordinate the whole if you would rather deal with one contact.
Panel dimensions are settled early with the metalworker or joiner: the setting-out of the frame and the design of the glass are conceived together, never one after the other.
Other interior applications
The same principle applies to glazed and landing doors, stair balustrades, transoms, folding screens, mirrors framed in coloured glass and backlit wall panels — a stained glass panel on a light box works just as well on a solid wall.
In shops and restaurants these panels divide the space while giving the place a visual identity found nowhere else.

I regularly work for interior architects on full renovations: I receive the plans, propose panel designs consistent with the scheme and supply the technical constraints — weight, thicknesses, installation tolerances.
